The only standing community town hall in the Eko Akette ward of Amuwoodofin LGA has been brought down to rubbles.
Residents of the Festac Extension axis of the LG woke up to these sad event, seeing the 46 year old structure served as a place for children , youths and even the old to meet and have other gatherings.
Sadly on the 14th March 2021, the historical building became nothing.
This sad development was done by the Lagos state Building investment company LBIC.
The Ward Councillor, Hon Ojomo bitterly described the event as disheartening.
In his words,
It is disheartening that LBIC still went ahead to demolish the only community hall in Ward A1(Eko Akete) despite the letter written to intimate the Executive Governor of their ill intentions.
We were not consulted on whatever proposed project LBIC wants to establish on that portion of Land.
I am at a loss on why the Managing Director of LBIC has been acting wickedly against our collective as a community. He chronically undertake arbitrary actions that are inimical to the well being of our people.
I want to appeal to our good people to exercise restraint while we exhaust the option of dialogue with the State’s government.
