LSETF has provided N1.6bn funds to over 1,400 businesses in Lagos – Akin Oyebode

Few days after the Executive Secretary of LSETF, Akin Oyebode spoke extensively on the number of Lagos businesses that has been empowered through the Trust Fund, the agency head has again reiterated that the funds provided for entrepreneurs is to grow their businesses.
Speaking to constituents at Amuwo-Odofin Local Government during the LSEFTs’ Grassroots Engagement and Education on its loan scheme which held, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Akin said that “the scheme is open to everyone registered as a Lagos resident to grow their trade.”
Stressing that the scheme is free of bias or favouritism, Akin disclosed that “the LSETF money is not a dash or a gift from the government to the people.
It is a loan for all Lagos residents who meet the set requirements to grow their businesses and is in line with the promises made by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode during his electioneering campaign to lead the State.
He promised to provide an enabling environment for businesses as well as create employment for youths in the State. The successful running of the LSETF is a fulfilment of this pledge made by the Governor to the people.”
Oyebode however added that the LSETF so far has provided funds totaling N1.6bn to more than 1,400 business owners in Lagos State to invest in their business.
Corroborating the LSETF head, Comrade Michael Popoola, a member Board of Trustees LSETF, said that Amuwo-Odofin residents should look at the positives and ensure they apply and judiciously use the LSETF funds to expand their business.
In his words,
“there are enough funds for registered Lagos residents to benefit from and use in growing their business. The LSETF team came here today to educate us on the loans and the Lagos State’s commitment to boost the economy through job creation by giving soft loans to small business. We all know that small businesses would employ more hands when given the needed support to operate.”
Furthermore, Akin Oyebode urged the residents to ensure they comply with paying their taxes, saying that the “Trust Fund money is from tax payers’ money.”
The educative event was attended by popular dignitaries, clerics, community leaders, alongside Amuwo Odofin residents who trooped to the venue to partake in the grassroots engagement.
Attendees include the Sole Administrator of Amuwo Odofin, Hon. Nurudeen Bamidele, Head of Administration, Mr. Adesanya Adegbenro, among several others.
