On The 8th Of October, 2016. The Rotaract Club Of Festac Town Pledge To Serve Humanity, Honour Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu And Pledge To Provide More GCE Forms To Inmates At Kirikiri Prison At The Investiture Ceremony Of Rotaractor Achilike Chukwudi Franklin as the President Of The First Community Based Rotaract Club In Nigeria. At the 33rd Investiture ceremony of the first community base Rotaract Club in Nigeria the youngest honourable of Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 was honoured by the club for his selfless service and developmental work to the people in the community.
In the honourable response he said they say we are the leaders of tomorrow but the leadership start now. He charged us to be pro-active in our pursuit and he gave his stewardship so far in terms of health, education, empowerment and talents discovery of youths, security to mention a few.
He said as part of his promise to help the inmates, he celebrated his just concluded birthday with the inmates of kirikiri prison and helper in releasing inmates without offense and Rotaract Club of Rotaract Festac pledged to give 5 free GCE forms to the inmates during the honourable birthday celebration with them.
At the investiture ceremony, the club out lined her projects to be executed in this Rotary year 2016/2017 Service to Humanity which includes:
- Organizing quiz competition for senior secondary schools.
- Visitation to the orphanage home in collaboration with NGO’s, NYSC….etc
- Free medical check up with drugs, Genotype testing and blood donation.
- Donation of textbooks and notebooks to public schools.
- Skill acquisition on information technology for young adults.
- Providing more GCE forms to Inmates at kirikiri prison.
Over #300,000 was raised to further do commendable projects within the community.
It was indeed a record breaking for the Rotaract club of Festac town (Rotafirst) and indeed Rotaract/ Rotary is good.
