Popular Blessed Happy Homes Superstore located at 6th Avenue, 13th Road has been sealed by the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA)
This action was carried out by the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring consumer safety and well-being.
The supermarket was accused of selling expired baby products with other consumables, infringing on customers’ health and safety regulations, and engaging in practices that posed a potential risk to customers’ lives and compromising consumers’ well-being.
According to the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, the supermarket’s management failed to appear at the agency’s office and would be prosecuted for their misconduct.
Officials of the agency on a monitoring exercise discovered that expired baby foods and other consumables were found on display for sale at the supermarket.
He stated, “It’s very unfortunate that we still persist in this part of the world to be doing this considering the numbers of products that were found, even baby food that has expired since 2023 was found on their display for sale and other consumables, and it’s very unfortunate that things like this are still happening.
“They were invited to the office, but unfortunately, they did not come. So, we approached the court and we got an order to seal the place.”
