The ongoing reconstruction and dualization of Old Ojo Road Phase II in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area (LGA) has reached 10% completion, with drainage works already 40% executed, according to project updates.
The project, which spans 3,650 metres from Oluti Bus Stop to Maza-Maza, was awarded to complement the already completed Phase I (Irede Road to Oluti Bus Stop). The completed Phase I, stretching 4,000 metres, has served as a strategic bypass to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, easing traffic congestion by allowing commuters to connect from Irede Road to Oluti Bus Stop before rejoining the expressway.
Old Ojo Road has long been a critical artery for residents and businesses in Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade LCDA. The reconstruction of Phase II is expected to Ease traffic flow across the zone and into the Lagos-Badagry Expressway., Curb perennial flooding challenges that have affected businesses and residents, Boost socio-economic activities, paving the way for industrial and commercial growth.
Speaking during the flag-off earlier this year, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, assured residents that the project would be delivered in phases to ensure smooth vehicular movement and reduce traffic disruptions.
The reconstruction project is being closely monitored by the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, with the support of community leaders and representatives, including Hon. Desmond Elliot and Hon. Femi Daramola, who have pledged their commitment to ensuring timely delivery.
Upon completion, the dualized Phase II will not only enhance connectivity but also Serve as a reliable alternative to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway., Reduce travel time for residents and businesses, Provide a more resilient drainage system to prevent flooding and Improve the quality of life and economic opportunities in Amuwo-Odofin.
