It’s been 100 days since Hon. Prince Lanre Sanusi assumed office as Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, and the administration says it is taking stock of what has been achieved, the challenges faced, and what lies ahead.
Since taking office, Sanusi’s team has focused on restoring order in areas affected by environmental degradation and infrastructural decay. One of the first actions of the new administration was a cleanup exercise across parts of the council. Several illegal structures blocking drainages were demolished, while security operatives reportedly recovered firearms, stolen manhole covers, and cables. A man disguising as a mentally ill person was also apprehended with multiple ID and ATM cards.
In the area of infrastructure, some road rehabilitation efforts have begun within the council, with excavation and drainage clearing completed in certain locations. The council also announced that two major roads 2nd Avenue and 7th Avenue have been listed for rehabilitation under the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) project.
Sanusi’s first 100 days also featured a mix of community-oriented programs including health outreach, youth engagement, and food support. The administration says these initiatives are part of a broader effort to cushion economic hardship and keep residents involved in local governance.
While some residents have commended the renewed attention to the environment and roadworks, others say they are waiting to see sustained progress beyond the first 100 days.
Speaking on the milestone, the Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development and transparent governance.
“Our focus is to build an administration that leaves no one behind. The first 100 days have set the tone, but the real journey of transformation has just begun,” Sanusi said.
As the administration settles into the rest of its first year, attention will now shift toward how effectively these early efforts translate into lasting impact for residents across Amuwo-Odofin.
