A group of youths in Festac Town demonstrated peacefully earlier last week to express their displeasure against the deplorable state of drainage channels and roads.
According to one of the youths protesting,
Lately, most of the drainage channels have been blocked due to the ongoing construction of buildings on the buffer zone corridor. The whole stretch from First Avenue by Second Avenue to Alakija Gate of Festac Town are the lands that make up the Buffer Zone.
Most of the Allottees have built on the drainage channels, causing blockages that have affected the roads deplorably. Second Avenue is no longer motorable because wastewater has taken over a portion of the road.
The peaceful protest ended at the Federal Housing Authority where their management team addressed the teeming youths assuring them that the problem will be resolved.
