The number of casualties from truck-carrying-container related accidents are still rising daily especially in the Amuwo-Odofin axis of Lagos state. 
These crashes involving unlatched containers falling off the flatbed trailers carrying them, causing permanent disabilities or deaths to Nigerians.
On Friday, 21st August, 2020, a container fell and killed two ladies at the ijesha axis inward Mile 2 at the wee hours of Friday night.
The emergency team from LASEMA were called to scene of the accident and upon arrival of the Team at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a truck loaded with an empty Forty Feet Container had a brake failure and rammed into a commercial truck parked at the above mentioned location.
Whilst the driver of the truck was rescued alive by LASEMA Response Team, LRT and was taken to the nearest hospital by the Agency’s Ambulance.
Unfortunately, two female adults lost their lives and were bagged and handed over to the State Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU.
The Agency’s Response Team and the Nigeria Police Officers were responders at the scene who worked together to recover the accidented truck off the road with the aid of Agency’s Heavy duty equipment, Forklift and was towed to Okota Police Station.
Aside from the death of these two, many Lagosians have lost their lives or badly injured by rampaging container carrying trucks going in and out of Ports in Lagos, Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports.
Pundits believed that many of these accidents could be attributable to the recklessness of the container truck drivers especially those of them that drive against traffic or caused by the bad state of the roads in the city of Lagos.
