Monday morning, July 29th 2024 was chaotic as residents in the Amuwo-Odofin community stormed the MTN office located in Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos State. This situation occurred as users and subscribers were said to have been blocked .
The crowd stormed the office to express their frustration and disappointment over the telecom company’s blocking of phone numbers. This has led to many users unable to have access to mobile phone usage.
At the MTN office, mammoth crowd was said to have been seen with long queues waiting to be attended to by officers. The queues covered the entrance of the complex.
This situation was also said to have affected many MTN users nationwide and as source reported, most MTN offices are experiencing the same crowd.
This is a reaction to the directive of the Nigeria Communications Commission to disconnect Subscriber Identity Module numbers (telephone lines) not linked to the National Identification Numbers, which was scheduled to take effect on July 31, 2024
