Residents of Amuwo-Odofin are expected to participate in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled to hold this Saturday, as Lagos State reintroduces its structured clean-up programme aimed at improving environmental hygiene and public health across the state.
The exercise will cover communities in Amuwo and surrounding areas, with residents encouraged to clean their surroundings, clear drainages, and properly dispose of waste during the designated sanitation hours.
The initiative follows the Lagos State Government’s decision to reintroduce monthly environmental sanitation as part of efforts to restore cleaner communities, reduce environmental hazards, and encourage sustained waste management practices among residents.
Unlike earlier years when movement restrictions were enforced, the current arrangement focuses on public participation and voluntary compliance, with emphasis on community responsibility in maintaining a clean environment.
Residents across Amuwo-Odofin are advised to take advantage of the exercise to address blocked drainages and environmental waste, especially in areas prone to flooding during heavy rainfall.
Environmental authorities are expected to monitor compliance and sensitise residents on proper waste disposal methods, while also encouraging long-term behavioural change beyond the monthly exercise.
Officials have reiterated that maintaining a clean environment remains a shared responsibility, urging residents to adopt daily cleanliness habits in addition to the monthly sanitation exercise.
As the exercise holds this Saturday, residents of Amuwo-Odofin are encouraged to actively participate and contribute to a cleaner and healthier community.
