Commuters across Festac Town , Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos state are beginning to experience smoother journeys following the reopening of major sections of 32 Road and 31 Road, which had been partially closed for months due to ongoing road rehabilitation.
The reopening has eased movement within the community, particularly for motorists who previously relied on alternative routes after both roads were shut during the reconstruction works.
Before the reopening, many residents were forced to divert through 2nd Avenue which is already a total writeoff and the 4th avenue axis when trying to navigate out or in to Festac Town, leading to heavy traffic congestion, longer travel times and increased pressure on adjoining roads during peak periods.
With most sections now accessible to vehicles, traffic has gradually returned to normal in many parts of the area, providing commuters with easier access to residential streets, businesses and other parts of Festac Town.
Residents who spoke with Festac Online described the improvement as a welcome relief after months of navigating traffic bottlenecks caused by the road works.
In addition to reopening sections of the road, the badly damaged portion of the 31 Road service lane has also been patched, making it easier for motorists to pass through while other rehabilitation works continue.
Although some finishing works are still ongoing, the partial reopening of the roads marks a significant milestone in the rehabilitation project and is expected to further improve traffic flow within the community.
Residents have expressed optimism that the remaining works will be completed soon, bringing the project to a full close and restoring normal movement across one of Festac’s busiest road corridors.
