Club Holds Conference For School Girls in Amuwo-Odofin

In commemoration and celebration of the 2021 International Day of the Girl Child, The Young and Pure Club in collaboration with VOB Foundation and Amuwo Odofin Local Government recently held a conference.

According to the initiator of the program Mrs. Juliet Keshinro,

“The occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child is an opportunity to educate and inform young about who they are, what they are and what they can become, irrespective of who gave birth to them, where they find themselves or their experiences in life.

Keshinro, a self-confessed girl-child activist, said the association was founded in 2011 to cater to the needs of girls and is committed to empowering, educating and advocating for the girl child.

Keynote speaker, Mrs. Piboere Okukulabe’s message revolved around the three keywords of Empower, Educate and Advocate. The legal luminary told the 200 teenage girls in attendance at the Henry Ajomale Hall, Amuwo Odofin LG: “Do not let anybody tell you, you can’t do it. Be self-disciplined, be focused, believe in yourself and never give up.”

The event was graced by Chairman of Amuwo -Odofin Local Government, Engr. Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh and his wife, Opeyemi.
