Photos: Colloquium On Environmental Sustainability

In a bid to ensure a sustainable environment in Amuwo-Odofin, a symposium tagged Colloquium On Environmental Sustainability, Recycling as a Viable Option for Sustainable Environment was organized by the office of the councillor representing ward k in Amuwo Odofin LGA headed by Hon Wunmi Ogunshina. 

The symposium was aimed at advocating and sensitizing members of the community within the local government and its environs on the need to preserve the environment.
The program which was organized in conjunction with Exotic Green Gold Foundation drew on Friday 23rd November 2018, drew the attention of various experts who discussed ways of saving the environment from the menace of waste disposal.
Attending the event were Former Chairman Amuwo-Odofin, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, House of Assembly member representing Amuwo Odofin constituency 1, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu, representatives from LASPARK; Mrs Olaleye Jirinsola and Alude komo from LASPARK, Mr W. Akindele and Mrs Adejuti Elegan from LASEPA, Imam Comprehensive College students  and many others not to forget residents in the community.
Also members of the press from Vanguard media limited Elizabeth Uwandu, FRCN Nigeria Mr Innocent Onoh and Kristal media.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the occasion Comrade Ayodele Adewale commended the councillor for his foresight in organizing such a program at a time when the environment we live in have become a dump site for refuse which should ordinarily have been used to the advantage of the people.
He further stated ways by which refuse can be managed and transformed to wealth, job creation and pave way for a free and healthier environment.
Comrade Ayodele called on all the relevant stakeholders from both the private and public sector to plug into the financial and economic viability of avoidable and unavoidable waste.
The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Lagos State who sent his representative Mr. Akinwale Adesina Olatunji applauded the initiative of Hon. Adewunmi stating the need for residents to adopt a proper waste disposal technique as assigned by the service providers.
He maintained that the Lagos State government will continue to put measures in place to to ensure proper waste disposal and management to include recycling.
He also noted Government’s concerted effort in partnering with the critical stakeholders in all sectors in order to create more jobs for residents of the state through recycling of these waste materials.
Another waste and recycling expert Mr Taiwo Adewole emphasized the need to drift all attention away from dependency on oil as major source of revenue generation and look inwards.
He noted that recycling of waste cuts down on importation of the same products that have been used to form newer products after undergoing the transformation process.
Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu commended the efforts of the councillor who have shown dexterity by virtue of the intellectual programs he has been organising since assumption of his office.
He hoped that the content of the colloquium gets to the adequate quarters in order to set the tone in Amuwo Odofin LGA while also looking at other ways of proposing more environmental friendly laws.
