FOVoices: How Police Extorted Thousands of Naira From My Brother

A young man on Sunday, November 27th, 2022 narrated how some policemen attached to the FESTAC Division of the Lagos State Police Command Extorted from his brother of a huge sum of money.

He lamented that the police officers took the sum of N134,000 found inside the bag of his younger brother and gave him N9,000 out of the money for his transport fare back to his destination.

According to the complaint who too to twitter He has therefore urged the police authorities, especially the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, and the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, to look into the matter as the brother, whose name he gave as Agada Kelvin Ifeanyichukwu, was sent on an errand with the money.

The complainant whose name is Ifeanyichukwu with the Twitter handle @D_reg042, wrote a series of tweets where he disclosed that policemen from the FESTAC area command stopped his brother at Mile 2 under the bridge and decided to search him.

During the search, they found a bag with him and when the bag was opened, they found the sum of N134,000 and a phone after searching the phone and found nothing, they decided to take him to the area command.

He alleged that on reaching the command, they forced him to write a statement labeling him a fraudster, collected the money from him, and only gave him N9,000 for his transport fare back to Yaba from FESTAC.
