Lagos State Has New Plans For Sports In Schools, See Plan

Lagos state government has finally decided to accept sports as a necessity in schools and has thus developed the Lagos State School Sport Initiative Program (LASSIP) as an investment for its young residents.

Its launch is aimed at invigorating sports in the school system and is said to officially kick off on the 29th of July, 2022 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Molade Okoya Thomas Sports Complex, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

It would be done in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the six education districts in Lagos state, training of 600 school sports master physical education teachers across Lagos has already begun as a first step in the deployment of LASSIP.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is at the forefront of this project has already provided all the resources necessary to make this intervention successful.

The program is part of a broad vision to leverage sports to promote physical fitness and wellness, offer alternative career paths to young people, and create a pipeline of talent discovery and development.
