March 18th Election: 3 Important Security Details To Know

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba in a statement on Thursday, 16th 2023, officially passed out movement and security restrictions towards the forthcoming election to hold on the 18th of March.

Movement Restriction

Vehicular movement (road, waterways and others) has been restricted throughout the governorship and house of assembly elections on Saturday and this restriction takes effect from 12am to 6pm.

Essential Duties Staff

Only exception is for those on essential services such as INEC Officials, Electoral Observers, Accredited Media and Observers, Ambulances responding to medical emergencies, firefighters, etc.

Temporary Ban On Security

Also, there is a ban on all security attaché to VIPs and escorts accompanying their principals and politicians to polling booths and collation centers during the election.

State-established and owned security outfits/organizations, quasi-security units, and privately-owned guard and security outfits are also barred from participating as election security management.

In Summary,

Lastly, all citizens were charged to be law-abiding during and after the election. As all necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure they exercise their authority unhindered.
