Fresh data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation has revealed how much each of Lagos State’s 20 constitutionally recognised local government areas received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) during the first quarter of 2026.
According to the figures, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government received ₦7.63 billion between January and March 2026 as part of the monthly allocations distributed to councils across the country.
Across Lagos, Alimosho received the highest allocation at ₦10.08 billion, followed by Ajeromi-Ifelodun with ₦8.45 billion and Kosofe with ₦8.37 billion. Other councils, including Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Lagos Mainland, Ifako-Ijaiye and Somolu, also received allocations within a similar range to Amuwo-Odofin.
Nationwide, Nigeria’s 774 local government areas shared about ₦1.48 trillion through FAAC during the first quarter of the year. Analysts attribute the increase in allocations to improved crude oil earnings, stronger Value Added Tax (VAT) collections and growth in other federally generated revenues.
FAAC allocations are statutory funds shared monthly among the three tiers of government and are intended to support local government responsibilities such as road maintenance, environmental sanitation, drainage, primary healthcare, markets, public primary schools and other grassroots services.
The latest figures provide residents with a snapshot of the resources allocated to local councils as communities continue to monitor infrastructure and service delivery across Lagos.
