The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is set to officially unveil the Olympafrica Centre and commence construction of a new Olympic Residential Estate in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
The twin-event ceremony at the Olympafrica Sports Centre located along Alakoso Avenue in Amuwo-Odofin, near the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries headquarters on the Oshodi–Mile 2 Expressway.
The development marks a significant step in the expansion of sports infrastructure within Amuwo-Odofin, with potential impact on youth development, community engagement, and local economic activity.
According to available information, the Olympafrica Centre already known for supporting grassroots sports—will be formally commissioned as part of a broader strategy by the NOC to strengthen athlete development across Nigeria.
In addition to the unveiling, the NOC will also break ground for the Olympic Residential Estate, a housing project designed to support athletes and integrate with existing sports facilities.
The proposed estate is based on a “Live-Train-Play” model, combining residential accommodation with training infrastructure. The concept is aimed at creating a structured environment where athletes can live, train, and develop within a single ecosystem.
For residents of Amuwo-Odofin and surrounding areas such as Festac Town, the project is expected to bring increased visibility to the community as a hub for sports development, while also creating opportunities for youth participation in athletics and related activities.
The Olympafrica Centre currently features facilities including a standard football pitch, athletics track, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as a multi-purpose indoor sports hall.
The event is expected to commence at 11:00 a.m. and will bring together stakeholders within Nigeria’s sports sector.
