It became a black Wednesday night at around 10pm as chaos erupted in the Festac Town Estate of Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos State.
It started On Wednesday, 10th Of August 2022, in the morning hours when a young man, who goes by the name Nelson also popularly known as ‘skelewu’ alleged an unrepentant thief was said to have stolen a phone from a shop, name unknown at the time of this report and was chased in to the 111 Road axis of Festac Town and was nabbed.
According to information gathered by Festaconline media, It was said that this was said not his first time he has stolen from the same store and when he was caught and beaten , he feigned death and he was left alone. This aggravated the beating he received this time around.
This time around he was given a serious beating at the 111 axis , and was also taken to the 311 axis where he was given further beating before he passed out and he was brought back to 111 axis in his unconscious state.
Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive, he was then moved from 111 road and rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost and was said to have died on arrival at the hospital.
His demise led to another phase of calamity as at around 10pmof Wednesday 10th August 2022, when some supposed people who some tagged to be friends of the the young man from across the FESTAC link bridge where he was said to reside ran down to the 111 axis to stage a reappraisal attack.
His friends believed hat the residents of the 111 road axis were responsible for the death of their friend.
This chaos led to them burning tyres and what not at the entrance of the 111 Road axis, wielding bottles and sticks and even throwing bottles around this led to residents and commuters to scamper for safety.
When this chaos started, the police operatives from the Festac Police division were informed who immediately came to calm the situation.
On getting there, the police had to disperse the crowd who were protesting the death of the boy by shooting in the air and everyone had to disperse and scamper for safety.
