Crime: Fake Military Robbery Suspect Nabbed In Amuwo-Odofin

Police operatives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos have arrested a 30-year old robbery suspect.

The 30-year old robbery suspect identified as Chizoba Okeke, have been apprehended in the 2nd Rainbow area of Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State.

Festaconline learnt that the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the Festac police station at about 9:30pm on October 3rd 2019 that an armed robber was sighted along the area.

immediately after the distress call, a team of detectives from the FESTAC Division were dispatched to the scene.

According to another Source , it was said that the robbers, on sighting the police team, opened fire on the approaching police patrol van.

Okeke was said to have sustained injury during the exchange of gunfire and was arrested, while other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.

It was  learnt that Okeke usually robs his victims wearing a military camouflage and makes use of POS to force victims into cashless transactions during operations.

Two daggers, a sword, house breaking implements, two phones, a POS machine and ATM card were said to have been recovered from him.

The police public relations officer Lagos State Command DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest in a release to journalists.

His words,

” On 3/10/2019 at about 2330 hours, Festac Police Station received a distress call from a filling station at 2nd Rainbow Festac, that an armed robber was sighted along the area.
Anti Robbery Patrol team was promptly drafted to the location.

The suspect who was identified as Chizoba Okeke “m” 30yrs old was arrested.

Items recovered from him includes two phones, one Sword, house breaking implements, two daggers, a POS machine and ATM card.

Investigation is ongoing to ascertain where and how he got the military uniform he operates with and to also identify other members of his gang.

It is not yet established whether he belongs to the gang of dismissed soldiers arrested some weeks ago.

The suspect will be charged to Court as soon as investigation is concluded”.
