See Why Festac Town Has Been In Blackout

Festac Town community has been thrown into total blackout for more than 48 hours since 4th August 2020.

There was a major accident which led into the whole of the Festac town community of Amuwo-Odofin local government area, Lagos state in darkness

On Tuesday midday a truck/lorry driver ran into an electrical pole which is the Brunelli High Tension pole, serving Festac 1, 33 Kv feeder, responsible for supplying power at the first gate axis of the community.

The truck also hit three tricycles and motorcycles but luckily occupants escaped, as the driver hit the pole nearby which alerted nearby people to scamper for safety.

It was a terrible accident as the poles were destroyed, ,The reckless driver tried to escape but was accosted, arrested and handed over to the Police.

Meanwhile his truck was seized pending when an undertaken as to the repair of the poles will be done or to bear the cost of repairs done by EKEDP.

According to Mr Shola Fakorede, President Festac Town Resident Association, the Business Manager Engineer Akeem Fashola immediately swung into action, making a requisition for materials for the repair.

Though repair work is yet to commence as at this time of writing as materials for commencement of repairs are yet to arrive but Senior Manager Distribution Engineer Ibrahim has mobilized his men to the site to start to prepare ground for the materials on arrival.

We await completion of repairs and restoration of power supply.
