State Government Predicts Road Completion Date

The Lagos State Government has affirmed its commitment to completing the first phase of the reconstruction of Old Ojo Road in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area by the end of the year.

The state government decided to upgrade the 7,650metre Single Carriageway road with deteriorating surface into a dual carriageway to serve as a strategic by-pass for commuters from Kirikiri Area/Ajeromi Ifelodun to Ojo Local Government Area, starting the reconstruction process in July 2022 and commenced work since August 24th 2022.

The road project, upon completion, aside from complementing the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, would ease the transportation of goods and services to jetties along the corridor as well as generate direct and indirect employment and will increase property value within the area.

The project will encourage additional industrial development in the zone and improve the socio-economic development of Amuwo Odofin Division.

For convenience of delivery, the road, which is also parallel to Lagos-Badagry expressway from Mazamaza to Trade Fair, was divided into two phases.

While in the works, there will be provision of streetlights with power generating sets, traffic signalization with sensors, bus shelter at lay-by locations, curb painting and lane markings, among others.

Including the Acquisition of Right-of-Way and relocation of public utilities, including water pipes, telecommunication facilities, electric poles, and transformers.

Presently, the contract which was awarded to Messrs. CCECC Nigeria Limited with a stipulated completion period of 18 months, is working assiduously on site, and the project is progressing steadily at over 20 percent completion.
