It was a historical day in the timeline of the Populous Nation in Africa as the 16th President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, 71, was sworn in the capital city Abuja, in the presence of thousands of Nigerians and several heads of government.
Bola Tinubu and his deputy Kashim Shettima at exactly 10:28 am and 10:38 am took the oath of office administered by The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola succeeding succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo
“I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, do solemnly swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that I will preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So, help me, God,” the new President swore.
Present during the oath-taking ceremony were Tinubu’s wife, Remi; Shettima’s wife, Nana as well as Buhari’s wife, Aisha, and their families who also witnessed the oath-taking ceremony.
Also at the venue of the inauguration ground were dignitaries including Akinwumi Adesina, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Jim Ovia, including service chiefs, heads of security agencies, governors, former governors, serving and former ministers as well as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Days earlier, Buhari showed Tinubu around the Aso Villa, Nigeria’s presidential residence while Osinbajo took Shettima on a tour of the Vice President wing of the Villa also known as the Aso Rock.
Also, Tinubu had on Thursday received transition documents from Buhari ahead of the May 29 inauguration just as Buhari conferred the national honors of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) on Tinubu and Shettima respectively.
The new president of the nation has promised to rule without difficulty and hassle and promises to run the country, tackling the problems of insecurity, and unemployment, and rebooting the ailing economy
