A tragic early-morning accident claimed the lives of two individuals on the Amuwo-Okota Road, leaving the community in shock.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, 5th April 2026 involving a black Toyota Camry. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle collided with a stationary truck on the Amuwo-Ago road. The car, carrying a young man and a woman in the front seats, suffered severe damage, beyond repair resulting in the instant death of both occupants.
Residents at the scene indicated that the male driver may have been under the influence of alcohol after leaving the popular Lapenzo Club, though reports remain unconfirmed. Both victims were returning from dropping a friend at Greenfield estate when the fatal collision occurred on the way to Lakeview estate axis.
Some onlookers noted that a substantial sum of money was visible in the car, adding to the gravity of the incident. The identities of the victims are yet to be officially confirmed, though one of the deceased, reportedly named Michael, was described as a young man who had recently celebrated his birthday over the weekend and is the only son of his parents.
Alot of onlookers and witnesses bitterly complained about the negligence of the truck driver who parked on the main side of the road , many said if the truck wasnt there they wont have died. It was a bitter-sad situation.
Authorities responded swiftly, securing the scene and beginning investigations into the accident. The Lagos State Police urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly during early hours, and avoid driving under the influence.
This tragedy underscores the need for vigilance on Amuwo’s roads, removal and sanctioning of truck companies who park anyhow on roads and serves as a solemn reminder of the risks associated with reckless driving.
