Fresh dirt has been dumped along the edge of the Festac Link Bridge, just days after a heap of waste in the area was cleared.
FestacOnline observed a man dumping dirt along the side of the bridge. The same man was later seen sweeping at a roadside car lot in the Festac area.
The incident raises questions about where waste from the car lot and surrounding area is being taken for disposal.
FestacOnline cannot independently confirm the man’s role at the car lot or whether the dirt he dumped came from the premises. However, the timing of the incident is concerning, particularly as the area had only recently been cleared.
For residents and commuters who use the bridge, seeing waste return so soon after a cleanup raises a simple question: where is waste from the surrounding area supposed to be disposed of?
Improper disposal of waste along bridges, roads and walkways does not make the problem disappear. It simply moves it into another public space, where it becomes a problem for everyone.
FestacOnline is bringing the incident to the attention of the relevant Lagos State environmental authorities for clarification and appropriate action.
